8 Sisters Bakery & Cafe sits conveniently just off highway OH-95 in Mt Gilead, making it a popular pull-off spot for travelers and locals looking for a quick, satisfying bite without straying far from their route. This spot blends the feel of a classic bakery with the casual vibe of a breakfast and lunch café, attracting early risers grabbing breakfast sandwiches or midday visitors picking up a sweet treat to go.

The inside is bright and clean, with cheerful signage adding a bit of charm to the space. Although indoor seating is quite limited, there’s a modest outdoor patio that feels ideal on a sunny day — a pleasant place to relax with a coffee and a pastry when the weather cooperates. This outdoor setup also encourages a comfortable, low-key hangout where you can enjoy fresh air while nibbling on their baked goods.

The menu leans heavily into baked goods — from sizable, fresh donuts in a variety of classic and creative flavors to flaky croissants and rich carrot cake. 8 Sisters also offers hearty breakfast options like biscuits and gravy that draw praise for balanced seasoning and creamy texture, avoiding the usual heavy-handed pepper that can overwhelm the dish elsewhere.

Coffee drinks here are given special attention with a lineup of signature blends like the 8 Sisters Decadent Mocha and a smooth White Mocha. The café’s coffee seems to be a key part of the experience, appealing to both locals looking for a daily caffeine fix and road trippers after something more crafted than the typical quick-serve options.

Customer flow tends to be steady, especially in the mornings and around lunch hours, as folks come in for both quick takeout and a slower sit-down moment on the patio. Families, commuters, and highway travelers all find something here: whether that’s a comforting soup or salad, a signature sweet like their strawberry pie or pumpkin roll, or simply a well-made donut paired with a refreshing cherry limeade or iced tea.

Parking is convenient and facilities well maintained, a detail that helps explain why so many choose to stop here even if it means driving a bit out of their way. The staff is described as friendly and efficient, making the limited indoor dining space less of an issue for those who just want to grab and go or enjoy a quick bite outside.

Best times to visit tend to be mid-mornings on weekdays to avoid the rush, or early afternoons when lunch orders slow down and the outdoor seating catches the sun. Travelers will appreciate its location and quality as a straightforward, no-fuss break spot. Locals might drop in for the dependable sweetness of muffins or cream-filled delights paired with a specialty coffee that offers a bit of everyday indulgence.

As a convenient and charming stop right off the highway, this bakery is a delightful find. We enjoyed their delicious Thai mango iced tea and cherry limeade, along with perfectly baked scones and a wonderful fried pie. The cute signs inside and the option to sit outside make it a perfect place to take a break and enjoy a treat.

This place is absolutely amazing! These are the best baked goods I have had in over 25 years. Drove about 30 minutes to try them out. Worth the drive!

Traveling across country and was looking for a good, local coffee place along our route. I couldn't be happier or more impressed! I got my husband the decadent signature coffee and I got the white mocha. EXCELLENT! It was right off the highway - easy to find. I really loved the T shirt one woman who worked there had on that read: do-nut worry, just pray

Good selection of food and pastry with quite a reasonable price. I got biscuits and gravy, it was delicious. Most places nowadays tend to overpeper gravy, this one was seasoned to perfection. Dry creamy and flavorful. Service was friendly and pleasant. Only drawback is that the place offer very limited space to dine in and it’s all outside.

Stopped by for the donuts - fresh and big. Store is bright and clean, so was bathrooms and parking lot. Ordered some sandwiches to go, by the time we finished a donut our food was ready.

Hazelnut coffee was made fresh, the Bavarian cream donut with bacon on top was fabulous, and the Buckeye cheesecake brownie was wonderful! The hot honey chicken sandwich was delightful!!! The young lady with pink hair at the coffee station was soooooo welcoming and kind, she gave amazing customer service. The other staff members were kind as well.

You often here about small town values and small town quality. 8 Sisters lives up to the reputation. A very friendly coffee shop and bakery not fat from central Mount Gilead (it's not that big ) with a warm, small town charm, good old fashioned service and prices that while not cheap (what is, anymore?), are not excessive. 4 Sisters Sinay says: Why not grab a coffee and sandwich or pastry and enjoy them in nearby, beautiful Mount Gilead State Park, if the weather is fine? If not, the dining area inside the shop is quite comfortable as well? By the way, 8 sisters? I thought I was doing pretty impressively at 4 sisters. I wonder how many brothers there are!

First time here yesterday and new mt gilead member. I got the pull apart apple and 2 fry pies, one lemon(which i have not eaten as of yet)and one berry(which my son ate). The apple pull apart is amazing! I warmed mine up. The rolls they use go perfectly with the apple topping. My son said the berry pie wasn't overly sweet and very good. Cant wait to go back and try the chocolate bread
